Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 3/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 egg
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Granulated sugar or powdered sugar (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix warm milk and sugar until dissolved, then add yeast and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add egg and melted butter, mixing well.
- Gradually add flour and salt, mixing into a soft dough.
- Knead dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.
- Roll dough to about 1/2 inch thickness and cut into donut shapes.
- Place on a lined tray and let rest for 20–30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a deep pan and fry donuts for 1–2 minutes per side until golden.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Coat with sugar or powdered sugar while warm if desired.
