Description

Soft and fluffy homemade donut rings with a lightly crisp golden exterior, perfect for breakfast or a sweet snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Granulated sugar or powdered sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk and sugar until dissolved, then add yeast and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add egg and melted butter, mixing well.
  3. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing into a soft dough.
  4. Knead dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.
  6. Roll dough to about 1/2 inch thickness and cut into donut shapes.
  7. Place on a lined tray and let rest for 20–30 minutes.
  8. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry donuts for 1–2 minutes per side until golden.
  9. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  10. Coat with sugar or powdered sugar while warm if desired.

Notes

  • Ensure milk is warm, not hot, to activate yeast properly.
  • Avoid adding too much flour to keep donuts soft.
  • Maintain proper oil temperature to prevent greasy donuts.
  • Add vanilla or spices for extra flavor.
  • Best served fresh and warm.
  • Store in airtight container to retain softness.
