Description

This Japanese Melon Cream Soda Float is a refreshing café-style summer drink made with fizzy melon soda and creamy vanilla ice cream. Bright, sweet, and nostalgic, this easy homemade float comes together in minutes for the perfect warm-weather treat.

Ingredients

  • 12 fl oz (355 ml) chilled melon soda
  • 2 generous scoops vanilla ice cream (about 1 cup or 240 ml)
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes (optional)
  • 2 fresh melon slices for garnish (optional)
  • 1 sprig fresh mint leaves (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon boba pearls (optional)
  • Optional Homemade Melon Soda:
  • 12 fl oz (355 ml) soda water
  • 2 tablespoons melon syrup

Instructions

  1. Chill a tall serving glass in the refrigerator or freezer for 5 to 10 minutes.
  2. If desired, fill the glass halfway with ice cubes.
  3. Slowly pour the chilled melon soda into the glass to preserve carbonation.
  4. Carefully place two generous scoops of vanilla ice cream on top of the soda.
  5. Allow the soda to bubble naturally around the ice cream for the classic float effect.
  6. Garnish with fresh melon slices, mint leaves, or boba pearls if desired.
  7. Serve immediately with a straw and long spoon.
  8. If making homemade melon soda, stir melon syrup into soda water before assembling the float.

Notes

  • Pour the soda slowly to prevent excessive foaming.
  • Dairy-free vanilla ice cream works well for a vegan-friendly version.
  • Homemade melon syrup mixed with sparkling water can replace bottled melon soda.
  • Rich vanilla ice cream creates the creamiest texture.
  • Try strawberry, peach, or yuzu soda for fun flavor variations.
  • Add sweetened condensed milk for an extra creamy dessert-style float.
  • This float is best enjoyed immediately after preparation.
  • Store ingredients separately and assemble just before serving.
