Ingredients
- 1 package active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup canola or vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus 3/4 cup more as needed
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar (for filling)
- 2 tablespoons orange zest
- 4 tablespoons butter, softened (for glaze)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
- 1 teaspoon orange zest (optional)
Instructions
- Dissolve yeast in warm water and let sit until foamy.
- In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, oil, and salt.
- Add 2 cups flour and mix, then add egg and combine.
- Stir in yeast mixture and remaining flour to form a soft dough.
- Knead until smooth and elastic.
- Place in greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
- Mix butter, sugar, and orange zest for filling.
- Roll dough into a rectangle and spread filling evenly.
- Roll tightly into a log and cut into 12 rolls.
- Place in greased baking dish, cover, and let rise again (1 hour).
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–14 minutes until lightly golden.
- Mix glaze ingredients until smooth.
- Spread glaze over warm rolls and serve.

- Do not over-flour dough to keep rolls soft.
- Use fresh orange zest for best flavor.
